  1. So Tommy Haas will eat Rufin like he does potatoes while Rufin will be fluttering around-most likely outside the line...I agree:)

  2. ????? the big question mark and the pivotal point of the tournament-Djokovic-Nadal...epic question-its up to the Gods?or the weather? Nadal? or Djoko's tricks if he has any left? Djoko should reserve his comments on the importance of this tournament because I believe contrary to his intent-it will put more pressure on himself-not Nadal.
Also I don't see Djoko as a great champion like Fed or Nadal or others of the past-he's in a slow decline-He won't hold the no.1 spot for much longer-1 year and a half maximum. This is his last chance to win RG.
I respect his defiance of Nadal's Claycourt dominance but at the same time-I don't-he should start worrying about other players as well...on other surfaces.

  3. The gods have intervened with the rain delay and now Baghdatis doesn't have to play a 5 setter anymore vs Paire-he can rest and play less than 3 now. Lucky guy.

  4. Djokovic playing with Goffin like a cat does a mouse before the kill. He makes it look close putting mental pressure on himself for practice...like he often does with lesser opponents. Ofcourse its different vs more dangerous players...But I understand-he's also warming himself and hiding his real A-game esp from Nadal. Yet he still shows it albeit in the important moments of the match. Cunning but still can't hide. He should finish off the matches faster-it will give him true confidence at the expense of his opponents and among other things rest as well.

  5. Gulbis had the match in his grasp but was cocky and overconfident in the important moments to roll up the match.Couldn't take advantage of his momentum. Typical dragon-desillusional when on a roll. Also Virgo's lose focus later on in the match lacking a reserve having spent it in the beginning. No surpirsie for me. Monfils also Virgo but the elder and wiser-when I saw the comparitive unforced errors the alarm bells rang immediately.

  6. It really isn't fair or good for a tournament to put the 2 most dangerous unseeded players against each other-Monfils/Gulbis. They should have a seperate lottery system for Gulbis,Monfils,Dimitrov so they end up in seperate quarters. Not fair for the top players either-wheter its Berdych or Djoko,Nadal etc.

  8. yeah i'm esp nervous about Nadal vs Djoko. Doesn't help that Moo favors Djoko either. I'm a Nadal fan as I've told you before...need to let out some steam somehow:)

  9. Hoping also that Dimitrov beats Djoko(that would be a laugh) don't like Djoko too much although he is a great player. Ofcourse I'd prefer Nadal to beat him.

  10. Djoko plays exceptionally well against lefties?? was he sending a message to Nadal today by obliterating Pella?

  11. Its hard being a Nadal fan-so many close matches! too many

  12. i am also Nadal fan, so many people against him, mocking on him ,call him peacock. i never noticed that Nadal behave not respectfully. on the contrary, he never afford to himself such crazy shouting like Jock . for example. envy people.

  13. Nadal-yes as a person the most respectful. I agree. From a very young age he had a great attitude and realistic view about himself. He doesn't hesitate to acknowledge Fed as the greatest of all time and Fed's respect for Nadal is equal if not more. Its nice to see such a friendly, humourous relationship between the greatest rivalry. The most underestimated player of all time and still underestimated by many-including his fans like me! Also the most unique. I find DJoko disrespectful-but also understandable since he feels he has a lot more to prove. Nadal doesn't look so great so far in this tournament-hope he warms up and finds his unbeatable zone in time for the semifinals vs Djoko(most probably). Crossing my fingers.

  14. Moo i was doing the math and on a positive note(as a Nadal fan) I concluded that there is more hope that Nadal again is underestimated and will win RG for the 8th time! I was looking at the draws and the scheduling and it is a testament to Nadal's's toughness-if he wins one of the first 2 sets he will go on to be the winner vs DJokovic...without a doubt this RG will be his toughest test by far.the question mark is how much he believes in himself cuz Novak has certainly taken a lot of that away from him-nevertheless it is a positive step towards Tennis evolution-including Nadal's. 2011-Djok's most dominant year-Nadal still won for example. But my main reason is the scheduling where Nadal hasn't been able to prepare at his best. The next several days will see a Nadal better prepared.

  15. Meanwhile I think Djoko is being a little too overconfident and may be inh for a surprise like all 'expectin to beat Nadal' opponents. 2nd set decides all! Or the closeness of the 1st set-as I expect the 1st set to go to Djokovic.

  16. Well the weather...seems to slightly favor Djoko-have to keep updating everyday. Can you not switch ur predicitons to Nadal? reading ur blog makes me nervous!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Also...Nadal's draw is much tougher than DJoko's or does Djoko make it seem so??????????

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well Djoko can take credit for making Nadal's life eternally tougher. He's shown people how to take the first set from Nadal-how else can u explain Ferrer's drastic change in results from Aculpulco onwards? copy of Djoko's tactics! among others...poor Nadal

  19. bravo Moo! u did a great job in ur predictions-esp on Clay-very difficult! Thank you! i find your blog most illuminating...

  20. Thank you very much! Looking on course for Nadal-Djokovic ;-)

  21. Wow! its amazing including 35yr old Tommy Haas half the men left in the Quarters are in their 30's-3 of them playing some of their very best tennis!! That's unheard-of! Has that ever happened before in a Grand Slam?-let alone on clay? I would've thought it more probable in the earlier stages of Tennis evolution-previous eras than later. I guess Tennis is very different from what I imagined. Also 31yr old Serena is rampantly dominant in the women's circuit. What is this world coming to? its quite encouraging/inspiring...

  22. I'll be rooting for the older players in this round! I love upsets and just found another leeway...

  23. i dont know, why everebody considers that 35 years is OLD for people, even they are sportsmens, they used to maintain their organisms to such phisical loadness. whatever. Kimmiko Datte Krumm is so grandmo ???? in tennis?
