Angelique Kerber beats Ana Ivanovic in crazy Linz final, 6-4 7-6(6)

Angelique Kerber
Linz closed out with a tremendous final as Angelique Kerber beat Ana Ivanovic, 6-4 7-6(6) to claim her first title of the year and just third of her career to add to Paris and Copenhagen from last year. I watched the second set and I do not know if I can pin down a set that I have watched before that had so many ups and downs, twists and turns and changes in momentum.  Kerber was the more consistent player as Ivanovic violently swung between crazy good and crazy bad.  The Serb hit some stupendous winners, but also just tried too hard at times to nail a winner.  She started to smoke the Kerber serve in the second set, but then just kept going for too much and standing too far inside the baseline to receive so that she just started to miss everything.  A third set would have been great and perhaps given this a chance to be one of the matches of the year, but Kerber recovered well from missing three match points at 5-4 40-0 in the second set to take the title.
