WTA Cincinnati: Finals Prediction

Li Na and Angelique Kerber will contest the Cincinnati final in what should be a highly competitive match.  Li has hit a rich vein of form having made the final in Montreal just last week.  She defeated an ailing Venus Williams, 7-5 3-6 6-1 in the Cincy semi finals; despite the win, there were still signs of the mental fragility that has haunted her over the last two years. A special mention to Venus who really has had a terrific week and deserves an enormous amount of praise for the way she has fought this week.

Angelique Kerber battled through the unpredictability of Petra Kvitova to win their semi-final, 6-1 2-6 6-4.  Kvitova has had a superb two weeks considering her recent success in America so will go into the US Open with a lot of confidence that she can improve on a dismal first round exit last year.  Kerber continues to impress and has taken out two of the biggest hitters on tour in her last two matches.

This would be Kerber's biggest title if she could win, meanwhile Li has gone 0-3 in finals this year so there is a lot up for grabs.  Kerber has won their two previous encounters this year and I believe she will make it a hattrick with victory in what I believe could be a crazy Cincy finale...

Prediction - Angelique Kerber to beat Li Na in 3 sets
