Angelique Kerber v Petra Kvitova

Angelique Kerber will be full of beans having taken out Serena Williams in the quarter-finals; however Petra Kvitova will also be super-confident having won five matches on her way to the title in Toronto and another three here in Cincy.  Their last match was an entertaining three-setter in Rome where Kerber prevailed but Kvitova had an injury in that one.  I think it will be another close match but i'm going for Kerber to prevail.  Kerber and Kvitova are due to play next week and i'm hoping that both withdraw having had some considerable time on the courts over the last few weeks...

Prediction - Kerber to win in 3 sets

Venus Williams v Li Na

Venus Williams has reached her first semi-final of 2012 and has arguably looked the most comfortable she has on a tennis court since returning in Miami.  Li Na is also enjoying a rich vein of form having made the final in Toronto and she will be the favourite for this match.  She has beaten Venus in their only two encounters and if she can hold her nerve, another final beckons...

Prediction - Li in 2 tight sets

My predictions this week have been so-so... its a known fact when I go for Serena, she falters.  I always seem to be the week behind too as I had Kerber to win in Montreal! My mens final is still on although Del Potro/Djokovic will be a very interesting semi-final...
