Roger Federer beats Andy Murray in Wimbledon Final

Roger Federer claimed a triumphant seventh Wimbledon title with a 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 victory over Andy Murray.  It was a valiant effort from Murray, who had his chances in the second set to force a two set lead, but Federer produced some moments of magic to eventually clinch the second set.  The rain forced the roof to come into play during the third set and from that point on, Federer was truly inspired.

Murray fought terrifically well out there today and managed to claim his first ever set in a Grand Slam final.  His emotional post-match speech will have actually done him a world of good and will no doubt improve the public's general opinion of him.  Federer now moves back to world number one and deserved this title, which was his first since the 2010 Australian Open.

The curtain has now come down on the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, but what a two weeks it has been... beginning from Nadal's shock exit to Lukas Rosol, Federer's near miss to Benneteau, Murray's late late finish against Baghdatis, Lisicki's stunning win over Sharapova, Serena serving her way to the womens title, Marray's superb doubles final win with Nielsen, Murray coming so close to winning the title and finally, Federer claiming a seventh Wimbledon title.  It has been a truly memorable Championships and an incredible time of the season, which started at the French Open and has provided six weeks of incredible non-stop tennis! I have loved blogging these past weeks and thanks so much to everyone who has followed my posts and written comments.

There are six (yes six!) tournaments this week as the Olympics has completely shaken up the post-Wimbledon schedule.  I am going to post my predictions for the tournaments over the next day, but will not be blogging much this week as I need to take a little break; however I will be back to full blogging duties next weekend so please keep checking back!!!
